Italy bond themed weddings are very popular due to the Bond film: Casino Royale having some scenes filmed in Lake Como.
The Bond Tribute Band – The Name Is Band had a call to enquire if we would be interested in playing for a wedding on Lake Como – the groom was a fan of Star Wars and James Bond films – Villa del Balbianello was the venue used for both a James Bond and Casino Royale and Star Wars. The happy couple were having their ceremony in the Villa.
Would we like to go? Of course we would! We were flown out to Lake Como. The night before the wedding was a Bond/Star Wars themed event and there were some pretty amazing fancy dress outfits arriving!
The Bond Tribute Band – The Name Is Band played and sang some laid back jazz standards for just under an hour as the guests arrived for a drinks reception, followed by a one hour Bond themed set with all the classic James Bond themed songs and ended with over an hour of worth of non-stop party covers. It was an incredible night and everyone had an amazing time.
The venue was beautifully decorated with lights and candles and some stunning floral displays. The back-drop of Lake Como was breathtakingly gorgeous and it was certainly a weekend to remember.
The James Bond Tribute Band stayed for two nights, enjoyed a Bond style speedboat ride, tasted the authentic shaken not stirred martinis (which incidently nearly blew our heads off), swam in Lake Como, met some fabulous people and thoroughly enjoyed playing for an awesome crowd!
